Annual General Meeting 2024 Minutes Easy Read About this document This is an Easy Read document. It is a Minutes document. Minutes means it will tell you what was talked about at Disability Equality Scotland’s Annual General Meeting in 2024. About the Meeting The meeting happened on 9 October 2024. People joined this meeting in 2 ways. Some people joined online with Zoom. Some people came to Saint Paul’s and Saint George’s Church in Edinburgh to meet in person. There is a list at the bottom of this Easy Read document. The list tells you who joined the meeting. Welcome Kayla Megan was the Convenor. Kayla Megan welcomed everyone and started the meeting. Kayla Megan said that voting had already happened before the meeting. There were 50 voters. 5 voters did not count as they did not meet the rules. The last AGM’s Minutes The last AGM happened on 19 September 2023. Nearly 9 out of 10 people had voted that the Minutes were okay. Annual Report Lyn had shared the Annual Report before the meeting. She talked about it earlier in the day at the Celebration Event. Kayla Megan felt proud of all the work that Disability Equality Scotland has done this year. Money information Gavin Curr shared the money report for the last year. He said that it had been checked carefully. The total amount that had come in over the year was 4 hundred and 72 thousand pounds. The total amount that had been spent over the year was 4 hundred and 7 thousand pounds. On 31 March 2023, Disability Equality Scotland had 2 hundred and 48 thousand pounds in the bank. Nearly 9 out of 10 people had voted that the money information was okay. Changes Kayla Megan said that there are important policy documents called Articles of Association. Sometimes words in these Articles of Association need changing. The first vote was to change words about our members. Nearly 9 out of 10 people had voted that the change should happen. The second vote was to use better words to make sure everyone felt included. Nearly 9 out of 10 people had voted that the change should happen New examiners Examiners are the experts who check our paperwork and money. They are independent and fair. The third vote was to ask the trustees to find a good examiner. Trustees are the people who make sure the charity does what it says it will. More than 9 out of every 10 people agreed that Martin Aitken and Company should be our independent examiners over the next year. New Board members Kayla Megan said that we needed to vote for new Directors. Kayla Megan thanked the Directors who were leaving: * Carolyn Wilson-Smith * Kenny Milne * Scott Stewart The votes were looked at. 8 out of every 10 people agreed that Derek Taylor could be a new Director. This means that Derek is a new Director. 4 out of every 10 people agreed that Rory Geoghegan could be a new Director. This means that Rory is not a new Director. 8 out of every 10 people agreed that Lauren Asher could be a Director again. This means that Lauren can be a Director again. Kayla Megan thanked everyone for joining this AGM and closed the meeting.
