Disabled People’s Organisations Collective Letter to The First Minister
On 4 September 2023, Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs) in Scotland, including Disability Equality Scotland, united in writing a letter to the First Minister. Our purpose was to urge him to take the upcoming parliamentary session as a chance to reset his engagement with disabled people and our associated organisations.
We call on the First Minister of Scotland to place the interests of disabled people in Scotland at the forefront. We urged him to assert his leadership by initiating an Immediate Priorities Plan aimed at combatting poverty and inequalities that cast a shadow on the lives of disabled people.
The collaborative effort behind this letter was a result of the combined efforts of various organisations, including Glasgow Disability Alliance, Disability Equality Scotland, Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living, Inclusion Scotland, Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living, People First Scotland, and Self-Directed Support Scotland.
